Hours in Boston

Start by skipping the typical breakfast and head to the North End for a self-guided pastry tour. Don’t be intimidated by the lines (they go fast) and visit both Mike’s Pastry and Modern Pastry, two cannoli rivals. Form your own decision, but don’t share your opinion too loudly. It’s a sore subject around town.

Ditch the Uber and trek over to the Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile, red-lined route that leads you to 16 historically significant sites, each one an authentic treasure. It’s a “must-do” if the weather permits, as you can see so much of the city’s history during this walk.

After all that activity, sit down and enjoy a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. The park also offers tours of the “Green Monster” – a must-do for any local or out-of-towner. After the game, relax at the nearby Cask ’n Flagon for a craft cocktail and oysters, plotting your next move.

If sports aren’t your thing, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is the perfect spot to take in an extensive, private art collection and sit outside in the beautiful, floral courtyard. It’s also the location of one of the most famous art heists in U.S. history!

In the early evening, keep the game going at the Sam Adams Brewery with a tour and samples of the best beer ever created. Or, if you are up for some additional walking, tour Newbury Street for some people watching and shopping.

Once hunger kicks in, hop on the T and head to Harvard Square for dinner at Alden & Harlow. Try to score a seat at the open kitchen’s chef table, as you eat your way through one of the best menus in Cambridge.
